M22 is located in the constellation of Sagittarius. It's the largest and brightest of the globular clusters cataloged by Messier but is usually considered a bit less impressive than M13 at a much higher declination for northern hemisphere observers; a perfect example of the quality observing near the zenith. M22 is close, only about 9,000 light years away, and spans almost half a degree of sky.
