Norma Jean Lessmann    June 1, 1933 - November 7, 2007

We hope you will join us for a casual, come and go as you please afternoon of remembrance and celebration of the life of Norma Lessmann, also known as...

Jean

Jeanie

Momlid

Molly

Norma Lou

Norm

Normie

Wanky

Sweet Princess...

(there are others)

According to Norm's wishes there will be no funeral services of the more traditional sense.  Normie never liked funerals but always adored the get-togethers after funerals when the house would fill with family and friends, lots of laughter, love and caring.  These are the times she treasured.

We welcome you to join us on Sunday, November 18th between noon and 7pm at Norm's house for an opportunity to share your own and our memories of times we enjoyed with her.

The address and a map can be found here  or you can scroll down this page and find some memories and pictures along the way.

Please if you would let us know how many will be attending by clicking here to email Dan.

Capital Hill High School Graduate, Class of 1951

Norma graduated with honors from Capital Hill High School in 1951 with a curriculum specializing in bookkeeping and secretarial skills.  She also studied music at Oklahoma City University.

With her skills she built a successful career in corporate and financial management.

We don't know the significance of this portrait but we thought it a particularly nice one that you would enjoy.

Norm as a Bride in 1959

Norm married Alfred Lessmann on March 8, 1959.  Together they raised five children, a bunch of dogs, several cats, a few dozen cows, hamsters, birds...

The family was active in Grace Lutheran Church where Norma played the organ for services as well as for many friends' and relatives' weddings and funerals.

Norm and Lori headed north to Wyoming to visit Wayno shortly after Norm retired.  She found the area and especially the Grand Tetons to be a wonderful place.

She also had the opportunity to visit Niagara Falls with David.  She was truly awed by the power and majesty of the falls but said you've got to get below the falls in a boat to truly experience them.

One of us suggested that perhaps she should try them in a barrel?  The public nature of this website prohibits sharing her response but if you know her you can certainly imagine.

Norm with Kim at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Norm loved the brooks and waterfalls around what she knew as Platt National Park.  This picture was taken during her last trip there in 2003.

Her smile is partly a result of having pulled off her shoes and socks for a dip of her tootsies into the clear, cool waters there.

Yes Favorite-Nurse is really Linda's title because Norm said so.  Done deal.

Our love, gratitude and thanks go to all of the fine people of Mission Hospice for their care and love for our mother and for all of us during her last months with us.

We also want to thank Pauline Baker for her care, love and assistance.

You guys are the greatest!

Normie is survived by:

Her children, Larry and his wife Lesley, Dan, David, Lori and Kim and her husband Glenn

Her grandchildren, Steven, Rebecca, Wesley and Andy

Her siblings, Verna, Larry and Linda

Many nephews and nieces

Her cat, Bonita also known as...

DAMNIT-QUIT-SCRATCHING-THE-COUCH!
